Four Leaf Rover's Lion's Mane Mushroom and Safe-Sea Oil provide a powerful blend of cognitive and physical health benefits. Lion's Mane Mushroom supports memory, focus, and brain health, while Safe-Sea Oil, rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, promotes heart health, reduces inflammation, and supports healthy skin and joints. Together, these products offer a holistic approach to enhancing both mental and physical well-being.
In the K9 household, we have three senior dogs, so aging is something that I don’t even like to think about. I can feel many of you nodding along with me.
I need to think about my dog aging though, we all do! It's real, it doesn’t go away and it affects every one of our dogs. Accordingly, we all advocate for our dogs’ health in this chapter of their lives, as we did for all the previous ones.
Personally, I'm concerned about my dogs’ cognitive function declining, I'm concerned about their mobility declining, I'm just in general concerned about their aging, and I'm sure most of you can completely empathize with me when it comes to this. Dogs aging isn't cool, what more can I say?
Four Leaf Rover
There is hope, though. Remember; we are always living in the best moment for veterinary medicine and nutrition. These fields are evolving daily, and as a result, we now have more ways than ever to spend more healthy days with our dogs…and that's all loving dog owners want at the end of the day.
I get lots of opportunities to learn about innovative dog nutrition development, it's one of the huge privileges of dogs being my livelihood. Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot in the dog community about a company called Four Leaf Rover, a US-based company with which we have no affiliation, but a company that I’ve been following closely.
I’ve read discussions that suggest a very ethically-driven company, in terms of their insistence on organic high-quality ingredients, their focus on R&D, and the way they treat their customers. Four Leaf Rover also think about the whole product lifecycle with a heavy focus on sustainability and non-marine-depleting oils.

Lion’s Mane Mushrooms for Dogs
I was appropriately excited, therefore, when I was given the opportunity to review two of Four Leaf Rover’s most popular products, The first product is a Lion’s Mane powder that can be added to enrich your dog's current mealtime.
If you've heard the buzz around all the benefits of Lion’s Mane mushrooms in humans, you can absolutely expect all those benefits to translate to our dogs.
Lion’s Mane seems to be a kind of silver bullet for multiple issues that we associate with senior dogs and aging in general. Below are some of the things that I found in my own research. I tend to do a lot of that whenever I introduce a new supplement or anything out of the norm to my dogs’ diets!
Lion's mane mushrooms (Hericium erinaceus) have gained attention for their potential health benefits, not just for humans but also for dogs. Here’s an overview of the research conclusions regarding their benefits for canine health.
Cognitive Function
Lion's Mane is known for its neuroprotective properties. Research suggests it may enhance cognitive function in aging dogs, potentially helping with conditions like canine cognitive dysfunction, which is similar to Alzheimer's in humans.
Anti-Inflammatory Effects
The mushrooms contain bioactive compounds that can help reduce inflammation. This can be beneficial for dogs suffering from arthritis or other inflammatory conditions.
Immune System Support
Lion's Mane mushrooms may help boost the immune system. They contain polysaccharides and other compounds that can enhance immune responses, helping dogs fend off infections and diseases.
Digestive Health
These mushrooms are believed to support gut health by promoting the growth of beneficial gut bacteria. This can improve digestive function and overall health in dogs.
Antioxidant Properties
Lion’s Mane mushrooms are rich in antioxidants, which can help combat oxidative stress and reduce cellular damage, contributing to overall health and longevity in dogs.

Potential Cancer-Fighting Properties
Some studies indicate that Lion's Mane may possess anti-cancer properties. While more research is needed, it suggests a possible role in preventing or slowing the growth of tumors in dogs.
Anxiety and Stress Relief
There is some evidence to suggest that Lion's Mane can have a calming effect, potentially helping dogs that suffer from anxiety or stress.
Safety and Dosage
While lion's mane mushrooms are generally considered safe for dogs, it is essential to consult with a veterinarian before introducing any new supplement.
Four Leaf Rover Lion's Mane Mushrooms
I recently started using Four Leaf Rover's Lion's Mane mushroom supplement for my three senior dogs, Lucy, Ellie, and Birdie over a month ago, and after reading the benefits and digging into peer-reviewed studies, I personally feel better knowing that my dogs are receiving the benefits.
Nutritional modifications take a while to make significant changes with respect to some of the claimed benefits, so I’m certainly not here to tell you that ANY supplement is a fix-all.
I have, however, noticed energy increases after a month, and it’s a more than coincidental increase. The most senior of my dogs, Lucy, also seems more stable, having recently started the all-too-familiar limb-flailing when she gets a bit too excited on slippery floors.
This is really, really important to me because Lucy communicates her joy by sprinting to her next adventure, so her mobility is extremely important to her quality of life. She simply couldn’t sit on a couch all day, so I’m extremely grateful for the impact the Mushrooms are likely having on her.
From comparative research, what truly sets Four Leaf Rover apart from other helpful dog companies is their commitment to using high-quality, organic ingredients.
This dedication ensures that I can trust what I’m giving my dogs. With increasing concerns about pet food safety and ingredient sourcing, it’s reassuring to know that Four Leaf Rover prioritizes transparency and ethical practices in their products.
As for pricing, I find Four Leaf Rover's Lion's Mane to be on par with other reputable brands in the market. Given the premium quality of the ingredients and the benefits they have already shown, I have to conclude that Lion’s Mane products provide excellent value for money.

One of the best parts of trying the mushrooms is how much my dogs seem to love the taste. It always helps when it’s not an effort to get your dog to take their medicine.
Now, my dogs are keen eaters to begin with, but with this aromatic and flavorsome addition to their meal, Lucy, Ellie, and Birdie actually, sprint over to their bowls now!
In summary, Four Leaf Rover's Lion's Mane mushroom product is a fantastic addition to my senior dogs' diets.
With its scientifically-backed benefits, premium quality, and ethical sourcing, it’s a product I wholeheartedly recommend to fellow pet owners looking to enhance their dogs' health. Plus, the fact that my dogs love its taste makes it a win-win!
Four Leaf Rover’s Safe-Sea Oil
The second product I was able to review was Four Leaf Rover’s ‘Safe-Sea Oil’, a combination of Oils that gives a full spectrum of the Fatty Acids needed to support skin, coat, and joint health in our dogs. As with Lion’s Mane mushrooms, the things that you hear about Omega Fatty Acids oils in humans are also beneficial to our four-legged counterparts.
This product is aimed more pointedly at skin, coat, joints, and connective tissue. As with the Lion’s Mane product, here are some scientifically validated benefits of adding these healthy oils to our dogs’ diets.
Omega Fatty Acids
Safe Sea Oil is rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, which are essential for maintaining healthy skin and a shiny coat. These fatty acids can help alleviate dryness, flakiness, and itching, promoting a more comfortable and healthy skin condition
Sourced from High-Quality Ingredients
The oil is derived from sustainable marine sources, ensuring that it is free from harmful additives and contaminants. This commitment to quality aligns with Four Leaf Rover’s ethos of providing natural and premium products for pets.
A very important side-note is that Four Leaf Rover’s founder tragically lost two of her dogs due to illness caused by agricultural chemical exposure. In their products, you can feel that passion for nutritional purity that anyone would feel after their pets were harmed by the very chemicals that we and our dogs can be exposed to.
Supports Joint Health
In addition to benefiting the skin and coat, omega fatty acids can also support joint health. This is particularly important for senior dogs or those with joint issues, as it may help reduce inflammation and improve mobility
Eco-Friendly
Four Leaf Rover emphasizes sustainability in its product sourcing, which means that Safe-Sea Oil is not only good for your pet but also environmentally responsible.

Easy to Use
The oil comes in a convenient liquid form that can be easily added to your dog’s food, making it simple to incorporate into their diet. It’s also more bioavailable than acids derived from fish oils, so you need less too!
Veterinarian Approved
Like many of their products, Safe Sea Oil is formulated with input from veterinarians to ensure it meets the nutritional needs of dogs.
Overall, Four Leaf Rover's Safe Sea Oil is a great addition to your dog's diet, especially if you're looking to improve their skin and coat health or support their joint function. As always, it's a good idea to consult with your veterinarian before introducing any new supplement to your pet's routine.
Our Experience With the Safe-Sea Oil
Since using the Safe-Sea product, my three seniors have noticeably fewer “hot spots” in the areas where they like to lay on concrete (in spite of much less abrasive options!) That’s huge news for me as my dogs seem super prone to that occurrence. Their coats are also as shiny as they were 5 years ago, and that’s no coincidence either.
Now, we know our most senior dog Lucy is around 12-years-old and the other two are about to turn 11, so getting the chance to review these products on dogs entering their twilight years is wonderful.
With supplements of any kind, we have to wait and see for the long-term benefits, but the short-term benefits of these two products have been genuinely impressive. Based on this, and the fact that getting these benefits is very affordable, I’ll gladly continue adding this to the girls’ diets.
All of Four Leaf Rover’s products are readily available to order online, so if you are looking for some peace of mind when it comes to giving your dog’s health that bit of extra help, we can’t think of a cooler company to try!
