Celebrity Dog Owner Shares Her Top Tips for Getting Fit With Your Dog

Sometimes when the depths of winter are upon us, New Year health kicks can sometimes find themselves kicked to the curb.

But if you're a dog owner, as actress, mum and personal trainer Sarah Jayne Dunn told K9 Magazine, you already have an advantage in your pocket (or at your feet) because your dog could hold the key to your mental and physical well-being.

Sarah says, "Just 30 minutes of brisk walking a day can vastly improve both your own and your dog’s health both physically and mentally."

And so following Sarah's example we have decided to share some of her top tips with four of the best products we've found for dog owners getting out and about this season.

Sarah's top tip number 1:

The first is simple, just get outside. Take that step to get up off the sofa and out through the door. Even a 20 minute brisk walk with your dog is better than none.

Sarah's top tip number 2:

Choose more challenging walking routes. Don’t let your walk become routine, this can easily get boring and it can be hard to motivate yourself to get outside if you know just what to expect. Look on your local community website and find some interesting walks, these will challenge both the body and mind.

Sarah's top tip number three:

If you have a dog that enjoys a run and has lots of energy, then why not increase your walking pace to a jog or even a run. Set yourself a time or certain distance/route to run and let your pooch enjoy it with you.

Dogrobes Dog Drying Coat Review: Team GB’s Harriet Lee Puts It to the Test

Harriet Lee is  a dog owner but is probably best known to most Brits for her time in the pool, which most recently earned her a Silver medal at Rio’s Paralympic games.

We first spoke with Harriet back in the Summer of last year just before she headed off to Rio where she introduced us to two of the big loves of her lives, her dogs Baya (or Bear as he’s also known) and Bow.

Both Harriet and Baya are keen water fans (not surprising given her job!) but Harriet says although he loves the water, the winter months mean he’s chilly for a while afterwards until dry. Oh, and he has a penchant for mud, which makes car rides home after long walks a bit of a mess.

So, this month the duo chose to review the Dogrobes dog drying robe for us.

Sarah's top tip number 5:

Stay hydrated, always make sure you carry plenty of fresh drinking water for you and your dog. The body needs to stay well hydrated at all times, especially when being exerted to the max!
