Caprice Bourret: Life, Dogs, and Everything in Between

Caprice Bourret is an award-winning model, businesswoman, filmmaker, and philanthropist.

Caprice shot to fame in the 1990s with her breakthrough Vogue magazine cover. Often referred to as "one of the most photographed women in the world,".

She has appeared on more than 350 magazine covers across the globe and in over 300 movies and TV shows. Born in Southern California, Caprice moved to England in her early twenties.

Recently, Caprice returned to the acting and film industry by launching her own production company, JJLove Productions, named after her two children, Jett and Jax.

Founded in 2023, JJLove Productions focuses on producing high-quality TV movies for global audiences.

Caprice has executive-produced several films, taking on lead roles in many of them. These include A European Christmas, where she starred as lead character Ivy Allen, and A Toast to Love, in which she played the glamorous antagonist, Eliza Vandeusen.

This year, she both produces and stars as Tiffany Bennett in A Scottish Christmas Secret, premiering on TV later this year.

Her most recent release premiered exclusively on Amazon Prime in the U.S. and on Channel 5 in the UK, and has sold in more than 25 countries. More film projects are currently in planning and post-production.

Caprice caught up with K9 Magazine to talk about life, dogs, and everything in between.

Caprice Bourret: Life, Dogs, and Everything in Between

Tell us all about all the dogs you've loved in your life.

I had my two Chihuahuas for many, many years - Stinker and Roly. They were my absolute best friends. They completely ruled the house.

It was just them and me for so long in London, and they gave me so much love and company during that time. Stinker lived until she was 16.

Only recently did I feel ready to have another dog, and now I have Lulu, whom I call "DoDo" as a lovable nickname. She’s tiny, so cute, and of course - completely spoilt. She makes me smile every single day.

You're obviously a huge dog lover. How long have dogs been a major part of your life, and how would you explain the importance of dogs to someone who hasn't experienced that bond?

It’s so special. Dogs become the heart and soul of your world - an integral part of the family. The bond is pure and loyal. They love you unconditionally - just pure love. That kind of connection is priceless.

What are your favorite things to do with your dog(s)?

DoDo loves snuggle time with mommy, especially when we’re watching movies in bed. She also loves popping by the office to see me, and she has her toys and bedding in there, too.

She loves going on little walks - or pretending to walk before demanding to be carried, naturally! She is only 6 months old and still likes to eat the furniture - so we are still figuring that out.

You have a really interesting career... What advice would you give to people who want to follow your path? What are the best — and worst — parts of what you do?

Whatever you do in life, you have to be willing to diversify and be agile. I started out in my early 20s modelling all over the world - hundreds of front covers, filming documentaries - just constantly traveling. But I always treated it like a business - I was smart like that.

In showbiz, you make your money when you’re the hot ticket in town - and you must invest wisely. I used my first big paycheque to invest in property, which was one of the smartest moves I ever made.

Then I had a plan B, and I launched my By Caprice brand, which sold globally. And now I’m in the film industry, executive producing and starring in romantic comedies. My last movie sold in over 25 countries, and we’re now on our fifth production.

Ironically, I started acting early in my career, so this is kind of a full-circle moment. I launched my own production company, JJLove Productions, because - I will be honest - the industry can still stereotype women. I got tired of waiting for directors to even see me.

So, I backed myself. I went for it. I should have done this years ago - it is a real passion of mine. In business, you’ll get knocked down over and over - but you have to keep getting back up.

The entrepreneurs who rise after the knockbacks are the ones who ultimately succeed. It’s a tough world out there, but if you back yourself, you can do anything.

Quick-fire questions — ready?

Big dogs or little dogs?

Tiny dogs, of course!

Calm and relaxed, or full speed ahead?

A bit of both.

Obedient or cheeky?

Let’s be honest - when they get a bit cheeky, their personality shines through. It’s adorable.

Walk calmly by your side or race off like a rocket?

Sidewalk strolls all the way!

Days off or days at work?

What is a day off? Serious question....

Fastest route or scenic route?

The quickest route - I’m a busy working mom!

Nighttime or early morning?

Early mornings, of course - kids, dogs, hubb,y and work!

Describe the last time you laughed out loud because of your dog.

DoDo wandered off on the beach and made besties with a group having some lunch - I swear it was because she smelled their snacks! It’s a good thing she’s super cute. She totally works it.

What do you like to do in your downtime?

Movies in bed with the family - the boys, DoDo, healthy snacks, the works.

Let us in on a secret that few people know about you.

Ooh, you got me... I’m actually very knowledgeable when it comes to health and wellness. I read everything, research constantly, and test what works. I’m obsessed with longevity.

What's your current favorite...?

TV show?

Anything with a rom-com feel to it. There is too much negativity in the world today, and we all need a little love and laughter in our lives.

Album?

Shout-out to Nic Fanciulli!

Film?

My new movie, A Scottish Christmas Secret, it’s out this December, and I can't wait for everyone to see it. It is our best yet. I play the lead, Tiffany - a publisher who goes to Scotland to convince top author Nathan to finish his series.

Website?

IMDb — for obvious reasons!

Animal charity(s)?

I’m a patron of Brain Tumour Research, but I'd have to say Battersea Dogs & Cats Home — they do incredible work for animals in need.

If you had to choose one product or service that has most changed your life, what would it be and why?

Book:

The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra. That book changed my life. It helped me stay grounded and focused during the early chaos of my career. I still follow those teachings today.

Beauty:

Fractional CO₂ laser resurfacing - it’s a cosmetic treatment that helps with wrinkles around the eyes. I found the best person to do it, and honestly, the results are unbelievable. Out of everything I’ve tried, it’s the only thing that really works. I’m completely wrinkle-free.

Pet-related:

As someone obsessed with nutrition, I feel it’s only right that I give DoDo the same care. One brand, Tribal Pet Foods, uses cold-pressed technology that helps keep in the nutrients dogs need.

It’s honestly surprising when you start looking into how most kibble is made.

Tell us about one of your most memorable work moments.

There are so many, but one that always makes me smile: I had a police escort to the MTV Music Awards in Rotterdam because I was running late to present an award as I was finishing a photo shoot.

They drove me right up to the backstage door! I remember walking in, meeting loads of huge stars, and then walking straight onstage to present the award. Total whirlwind moment.

Finish this sentence: “Dogs are…”

…pure love on four legs. Loyal, hilarious, and better than most humans.

And finally: If dogs could talk, and you could ask yours one question, what would it be — and what do you think they’d say?

I would tell her, “Mommy loves you very much.”

And I’d ask, “Are you happy? Would you like more cuddles and treats?”

Let’s be honest — we both know the answer to that one!

Anything else you'd like to share with our readers?

I’m incredibly proud to support Brain Tumour Research, Jewish Care, as well as a number of local, smaller charities. Brain tumours are the leading cause of cancer deaths for people under the age of 40.

We still have so far to go in finding better treatment options.

And I’m loving this next chapter with my movies - there are two in post-production, and we are just starting pre-production for the next.

A Scottish Christmas Secret is airing on Channel 5 later this year, followed by global streaming releases. It’s a really exciting time for us.

Thanks, Caprice!
