At K9 HQ, we’ve had our current 3 dogs for over 10 years and well, we have simply never thought about Air Purification. We’re glad to be thinking of it now, though. It turns out that both our health and the cleanliness of our air were both in need!
Over three months ago, we saw an advertisement for an air purifier on one of our favorite dog blogs. Convinced that we were overlooking something important, we did our research on air purifiers and everyone raved about the Molekule and specifically their top-of-the-range Air Pro model.
Determined to not only learn more about the air we were living in, but to improve it, if possible, we took delivery of our very first air purifier. The Molekule unit promised to not only remove, but actually destroy certain pathogens at the molecular level. Before going into details, let’s give a brief summary of our 3-month, unpaid review.
Quick Summary
Since we live in the US, the air in our house is filtered through a central system, replenishing each room with filtered air throughout the day. What we didn’t realize, however, was that the technology in most home air filters is very old and has limits on the sizes of particles that can be removed from the home.
The first thing to report, therefore, is that while we usually change our home air filter once per month, after 3 months with the Molekule pro, the home air filter simply isn’t ready for cleaning. That’s a massive points score for the Air Pro.
The second notable improvement to our household was a decrease in allergy symptoms. It’s difficult to conclude with only one house, and a 3-month study window, but allergies are rampant in our home, and we cannot think of a single other reason that we’d be getting symptom relief.
The third thing to report is that the Molekule Pro makes us gratefully aware of our air quality. The readouts of “Very Poor, Poor, Moderate, Good” are clearly visible on the Molekule’s touch screen display, but more interesting still, you can get more granular performance data, such as the relative levels of particles of different sizes.
We were obsessed with this because it is possible to trace the causes of changes in air quality in real time. When the windows were open and a neighbor had a bonfire, the smallest particles went from good to very bad….until we closed the windows and turned up the air purifier…..so cool! Similarly, we were really surprised that our air quality decreased after cleaning the house?!
Shouldn’t the particles in the air decrease after cleaning? Not necessarily is the answer. We soon concluded that our cleaning chemicals were the culprit, causing us to move to products with less VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds). So, we feel pretty good in the K9 household that regardless of any other features, this product has allows us to not only understand, but substantially improve the quality of the air we live in, for us AND out pets!
Specifically for Pet Lovers

The PECO Technology (Photo Electrochemical Oxidation) technology, which is specifically designed to tackle a wide range of pollutants, including pet dander, destroys these pollutants at a molecular level, breaking them down into harmless byproducts.
Since our Editor is a trained chemist among other things, he reviewed the scientific literature behind the filter technology, and it checks out 100% that the particles making us sick need to be destroyed rather than simply collected.
Also, destroyed molecules don’t accumulate on the filter, whereas traditional filter materials just catch and accumulate particles, eventually reducing airflow and becoming useless. Finally the year-long lifespan of the filter makes sense!
Air Pro also captures particles as small as 0.1 microns in size. This includes pet dander, which can be a common allergen for many people. By capturing these particles, Molekule helps reduce the presence of pet-related allergens in the air. A by-product of this is odor elimination, by far the most noticeable improvement in a dog-centric house.
Although owners can become “nose blind” to odors in their own home, we can always tell when walking in through our front door that we live in a dog-friendly house. It’s one of the things we deal with as pet owners, and while we look at it as an occupational hazard as dog fanatics, since using the Molekule, we have noticed a distinct decrease in pet-related odors.
To make the result more scientific, I invited 5 visitors to our house after month 1 of continual air purifier use, and they all begrudgingly acknowledged that they could no longer smell our dogs. Instant savings in scented candles…result!

Features….and a bit of Science!
The Molekule Pro air purifier simply plugs into the wall and gets to work. It can be controlled via a touchscreen on the device, or an app. It’s really that simple. The PECO filter only requires changing once a year, and we can attest that after 3 months of heavy use, the filter has over 75% life, per the units on-board filter indicator.
The purifier also looks so attractive that instead of cluttering your living room, it gives vibes of sleek modern décor. We thought it very clever that Molekule have embraced a sleek minimalism in the design of this product, rather than trying to hide or disguise it.
It even has a sleek leather carry handle to move between rooms. In reality though, we have a fairly small place and the Molekule pulls in air from all directions within 1,000 feet, so we rarely moved it, preferring to see it in our living room reminding us that our air is purer than before we learned what a PECO filter is!

9/10 because at approximately $1000 it’s an investment, but its one that we think is appropriate IF you need that much space coverage and if, of course, you have the disposable income.
