Lawrence Jones: “I Found My Love For Dogs Again”

Lawrence Jones currently serves as co-host of FOX News Channel’s FOX & Friends (weekdays, 6-9 AM/ET). He was named to the role in 2023.

Previously, Jones served as host of Lawrence Jones Cross Country, focusing on newsmakers from across the political and cultural spectrum, spotlighting the leading concerns facing Americans nationwide.

Since joining FOX News Media in 2018, Jones has become known for his signature storytelling and "man-on-the-street" segments focusing on the impact of various issues on local communities.

He was later named enterprise reporter for the FOX & Friends franchise in May 2021 and has filled in as guest-host for the top-rated cable news morning show on both the weekday and weekend editions.

Throughout 2021, Jones also served as a regular host for the nightly FOX News Primetime at 7 PM/ET.

In the 2024 election cycle, Jones contributed to the network's coverage and traveled to the RNC and DNC. He also traveled to a number of battleground states to present "Breakfast with Friends" segments for FOX & Friends.

Additionally, he conducted an emotional interview with the family of Davell Gardner, Jr., the one-year-old child who was shot and killed by a stray bullet while asleep in his stroller at a cookout in Brooklyn, New York.

He also reported extensively from Chicago on the city’s spike in gun violence, interviewing the family of Natalia Wallace, a seven-year-old girl who was killed in a drive-by shooting on the Fourth of July.

Later that year, he also conducted a wide-ranging interview for FOX Nation with NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace from his home in North Carolin, which spanned the start of his career in racing to his activism in the Black Lives Matter movement.

Jones attended the University of North Texas.

Lawrence caught up with K9 Magazine to talk about his dogs, work, and life.

Lawrence Jones: "I Found My Love For Dogs Again"

Tell us all about all the dogs you've loved in your life.

I knew a Rottweiler named Tori. She had a very tragic death. So then, after that, I didn’t like dogs. Then Dana Perino introduced me to her dog Jasper during COVID, and I found my love for dogs again.

After Jasper’s passing, I got Nala and now understand the love between man and dog.

You're obviously a huge dog lover. How long have dogs been a major part of your life, and how would you explain the importance of dogs to someone who hadn't ever experienced the joy of a canine/human relationship in their life?

Before Nala, I wasn’t a dog person. But for the past 3 years, she has changed my life.

What are your favorite things to do with your dog(s)?
I love to hide items and have her find them, like playing hide and seek. I love training her; we practice every day.

You have a really interesting career... What advice would you give to the many people who want to follow your path in career terms? What are the absolute best (and worst) things about your work?

You gotta love this, it's the love of the career that sustains you through the good and bad days. The best part of my job is covering stories that make people smile.

The worst part is covering breaking news, especially when people lose their lives.

Here are our quick-fire questions. Are you ready?

Which do you prefer and why?

Big dogs or little dogs?

Big dogs only. I’m a big guy, so no little dogs.

Calm, relaxed dogs or dogs who live at 100mph?

Both Nala has gin good balance of both.

Dogs who do as they're asked most of the time, or dogs who do pretty much whatever they like whenever they like?

Dogs that have discipline reflect the owner.

Dogs who love to walk by your side or dogs who like to race off and cover ten thousand yards in 3 seconds?

By my side for sure, and Nala is always by my side.

Days off or days at work?

Days at work.

The fastest route or the scenic route?

Fastest.

Nighttime or early morning?

Early.

Describe the last time you laughed out loud because of something you saw a dog do.

Nala knows when she’s not supposed to do something, and she’ll run back to where she belongs. She has a lot of personality.

Let us in on a secret that very few people know about you.

Album?

Thriller.

Film?

Tombstone.

Animal charity(s)?

BadenK9, SOWW(Special Operations Wounded Warriors), Kares.

If you had to choose just one, what product or service would you say has most changed your life, do you think, and why?

Tell us about some of the most memorable moments from your work.

Inauguration, FOX Nation’s annual Patriot awards, Texas State Fair… too many to count!

Finish the following sentence, "Dogs are..."…

A gift from God.

And finally, this is always a tough question and often requires some serious thought… If dogs had the ability to speak, and you could ask your dog just one question and one question only, what would you ask them, and what do you think that they'd say?

Do you always understand me, or is it only sometimes? And if you do understand me, why don’t you listen?

Thanks, Lawrence!

  1. You’re doing a great job. And you have changed my perspective totally about Republicans. My parents were Democrats. But back in those days it was different. Then I thought for years I was a Republican. Then one day I seen this young black man coming to Fox and he told me Mr . Hannidy that you don’t think you can work for him. Because you’re an independent . From that day I believe truly now that iam an independent . Know how my mom raised me. Taught taught me my moral vibes. Thanks Mr. Jones
