How Smart Is Your Pet? Do you think you have a canny canine or has your cat got you wrapped around their paw?
In celebration of International Guide Dog Day, and as a long-term supporter of the charity Guide Dogs, Petplan, the UK’s no.1 pet insurer, has developed a fun quiz to help owners find out how smart their pets really are.
Guide dogs are well known for their aptitude and intelligence in their role of providing support and guidance for people with sight loss or vision impairment, helping them live the life they choose without limitations.
These clever dogs not only assist their owners with navigating routes and avoiding objects, but they are also trained to locate specific objects such as elevators or bus stops to help make their owner’s daily routines accessible and enjoyable.

Has your pet got what it takes to be as bright as these special canines? Test their intelligence by completing Petplan’s online pet IQ quiz today!
And, if your pet turns out to be more Elmer Fudd than Einstein - don’t worry - Petplan knows they still have their own special qualities that rightly earn them a much-loved place in your heart!
Bella Von Mesterhazy, Pet Trading Director at Petplan, commented: “After working in partnership with Guide Dogs for 15 years we know just how special guide dogs are.
The confidence and independence guide dogs can bring to their owners is life-changing. We are continuing to support these incredible dogs through a number of fundraising initiatives including the ‘Paws on the Wharf’ sculpture trail at Canary Wharf.”
If you are visiting London, visit the Petplan-sponsored dog ‘Hearts of Gold’, designed and painted by artist Marnie Maurri, who is attracting a growing fan base.
The trail is a fun, activity-filled walk with 25 larger-than-life guide dog sculptures, many with tactile elements. The trail is also hosting bookable sighted guides and sensory tours to help create an accessible and multi-sensory experience.
The sculpture trail
Put your best paw forward and get ready for an unmissable free art trail - running for eight weeks, from 25 March to 17 May 2024.
Paws on the Wharf has brought a collection of larger-than-life guide dog sculptures to Canary Wharf, each individually decorated by talented artists in vibrant designs.

Pick up the scent and follow this outdoor trail of discovery for an accessible and fun celebration of our iconic much-loved guide dogs. A great free activity for all the family - plan your weekend trip or early May bank holiday visit!
At the end of the trail, our incredible sculptures will be looking for their 'furever' homes through our auction.
Brought to you by Guide Dogs and Wild in Art, supported by Citi, and hosted by Canary Wharf Group and Canal & River Trust, Paws on the Wharf aims to raise awareness and vital funds to help people with sight loss live more active and independent lives.

Understanding how our pets think and learn can help us bond better with them and train them more effectively. I love the idea of testing their intelligence through fun games and activities. It’s amazing how much our furry friends can understand and how we can enrich their lives with the right mental challenges. I’m excited to explore this topic more!
