Meet Ewan Wood, a rising star whose boundless talent and charisma have captivated audiences and industry insiders alike.
This holiday season, Ewan is set to light up the big screen alongside Judy Greer and Lauren Graham in THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER, one of the season’s most eagerly anticipated films, hitting theatres on November 8th.
Ewan takes on the role of Leroy Herdman, the mischievous, snack-loving troublemaker who brings chaos and charm to the Herdman family’s unforgettable journey.
But Ewan’s story goes beyond the glitz of Hollywood. Born in Britain and raised in Canada, Ewan’s passion for storytelling sparked early, fueled by his love for shows like Ricky, Nicky, Dicky & Dawn.
Encouraged by his veterinarian mother, who also instilled in him a deep love for animals, Ewan embraced acting as a way to channel his creativity. A serendipitous audition in Ottawa ignited his career, leading to standout roles in the acclaimed short film WOODEN SPOON and season two of Chucky (Syfy/USA).
Off-screen, Ewan’s heart beats just as brightly for causes close to him, particularly animal welfare. With two beloved pups at home and a dream that every dog will find a loving family, Ewan’s compassion shines through in every aspect of his life.
Whether he's skateboarding, building intricate Lego masterpieces, or championing kindness, Ewan embodies the spirit of a modern-day Renaissance kid.
With his ability to bring depth and humor to every character, a rapidly expanding portfolio including major commercials for Nintendo, Lego, and the Toronto Blue Jays, and ongoing mentorship at LB Acting Studio, Ewan is poised for greatness.

As he steps into the spotlight with The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, he’s not just making waves—he’s creating ripples that promise to last a lifetime.
Ewan sat down with K9 Magazine to share insights into his life, career, and love for his furry companions.
Tell us all about all the dogs you've loved in your life. (this is your chance to tell us everything about your dogs, past or present. Names, ages, breeds - we want to know everything!)
I love dogs, I have owned 3 in my life. Joost was a Weimaraner that we had when we lived in South Africa and he was a fantastic runner and loved me. We brought him to Canada when we moved here. He had a wonderful life here in Canada and experienced snow for the first time.
Joost crossed the rainbow bridge in February 2019 at a good age of 14 years. Butterfly is also a dog we brought with us from South Africa. She is a German Shorthaired Pointer and her name comes from the markings that look like Butterfly wings on her back.
She is 12 years old, she is still full of energy and loves to bring me her toys, especially her snowman. Coaster is my 7-year-old Weimaraner. He is a real Canadian who loves playing in the snow and taking naps with me in bed. Although, he is terrified of swimming!
You're obviously a huge dog lover. How long have dogs been a major part of your life and how would you explain the importance of dogs to someone who hadn't ever experienced the joy of a canine/human relationship in their life?
I've grown up with dogs my whole life. One thing I know for sure is that dogs make the best companions—they're always right by your side, ready to make any moment better. But here's the thing: even when they're older, those puppy-dog eyes never lose their power.
No matter how tired you are, that look always convinces you to grab the leash for another walk. It's just part of the special bond between a dog and their owner—always there for each other.
What are your favorite things to do with your dog(s)? I
love playing tug of war, fetch, and walking them. I am especially fond of cuddling my dogs when I am watching shows on tv.
You have a really interesting career... What advice would you give to the many people who wanted to follow your path in career terms? What are the absolute best (and worst) things about your work?
You have to be committed, you can do a hundred auditions and no roles. You have to keep a positive mindset and look forward to your next role. The best things are going to new places, making new friends, and working on interesting projects.
I guess that the worst things would probably be doing so many auditions with no guarantees of being successful or waiting sometimes for months if you landed a role that you really wanted.
Here are our quick-fire questions, are you ready? Which do you prefer and why?
Big dogs or little dogs?
Big dogs because I have grown up owning big dogs all my life.
Calm, relaxed dogs or dogs who live at 100mph?
I like calm and relaxed dogs but all the dogs I have owned are crazy and live life at 100mph.
Dogs who do as they're asked most of the time or dogs who do pretty much whatever they like whenever they like?
This is another case of my dogs doing whatever they like whenever they like.
Dogs who love to walk by your side or dogs who like to race off and cover ten thousand yards in 3 seconds?
It would be nice to walk by your side but my dog Butterfly always wants to go as fast as possible.
Days off or days at work?
I much prefer days off as I like relaxing and watching good shows – but work is super fun too!
The fastest route or the scenic route?
I much prefer the fastest route because I like to get to where I need to go.
Nighttime or early morning?
I much prefer nighttime because I like sleeping.
Describe the last time you laughed out loud because of something you saw a dog do.
The last time I laughed out loud was when my dog Coaster almost ran into a road sign because he was chasing a squirrel.
What do you like to do in your downtime?
I like to play video games with my friends, try out new tricks on my trampoline, and hang out with my dogs on the couch watching TV.
Let us in on a secret that very few people know about you.
I’m not the biggest fan of birds, which is kind of weird because both my dogs are bird-obsessed hunting hounds.

What is your current favorite…?
TV show?
I like different TV shows but one I have always loved is The Simpsons and it is great they are still airing new episodes.
Album?
I like lots of different music.
Film?
I don’t have a current favorite, but I do like Marvel films.
Website?
YouTube.
Animal charity(s)?
Humane Society of Canada.
If you had to choose just one, what product or service would you say has most changed your life do you think and why? (can be technology, beauty, food, pet-related, book - anything)
Sweatpants – They make you feel comfortable, and free to move about and instantly make you want to relax.

Tell us about some of the most memorable moments from your work.
I remember when we were filming The Best Christmas Pageant Ever and we were in this freezing cold, broken-down old house. It was the first time all of us Herdman kids were together and I knew right then that we were a part of something special.
Finish the following sentence, "Dogs are..."...
Dogs are better than cats.
And finally, this is always a tough question and often requires some serious thought… If dogs had the ability to speak and you could ask your dog just one question and one question only, what would you ask them and what do you think that they'd say?
I would ask: What do you dream about?
Answer: We dream about food, family, and bunnies.
This is an opportunity to talk about any causes, projects, business ventures, etc that are important to you and you'd like us to tell our readers about.
Every single dog no matter where they are from deserves a loving home. Please support your local shelter, humane society, or SPCA.
Thanks, Ewan!
