Sarah Jayne Dunn Review: My Dog & Son Both Love This Dog Bed!

Last month we were offered the chance to review the George Barclay Monxton box bed - with a bonus of having a second brand new bed to giveaway - so we asked our friend, Hollyoaks actor Sarah Jayne Dunn and her Pug, Ming Ming to do the honours for us.

Here's how they got on.

Sarah Jayne Dunn's Review: The George Barclay Monxton Box Bed

Recently Ming Ming was treated to a brand new, top of the range, super high-quality doggy bed by George Barclay (£64.99/small) for her (me) to review for K9 Magazine.

The choice of colours across their range is extensive with lots of nice bright colours to choose from, a nice change from the normally limited selection of beige-brown beds I’ve seen in the past.

In the end, we chose the Monxton design in small to fit into our living room's decor. It is a beautiful twilight/blue denim bed with a faux suede brown trim and matching detail at the front.

When the bed arrived Ming Ming did her usual wiggle of anticipation at the box delivery that was for her and she wiggled even more ferociously when she realised what was inside.

As you can see from the photograph the problem she had was actually getting into the bed on her own as our two year old, Stanley also took a shine to it - and I can’t blame him.

The bed is very luxurious and it has the plumpest cushioning I have seen on a dog bed. The sides and back are high for comfort and maximum snuggle factor, with a dropped front for ease of getting in and out, and it's the perfect height for Ming to rest her little chin on.

The interior walls of the bed contrast in colour and fabric, they are a lighter blue and a more textured pattern, and the underside of the bed is non-slip so it's durable and grippy - ideal if the bed is to be placed on a wooden, tiled or vinyl floor.

The bed's cushions are covered in protective, water-resistant Moisture Shield™ covers to keep them dry and the cover is machine washable. You can also buy different covers to fit the bed so you can swap the look and keep it fresh constantly.

Ming and Stanley both still fight over who is going to sit in it and it looks beautiful in our front room.

Many thanks to George Barclay for sharing their Monxton box bed with us. Find out more at

Would You Like to Win One?

Since Sarah, Ming Ming and Stanley all love this bed we think it's only fair that we give your dog the chance to win their very own this Christmas.

So we have asked the lovely team at George Barclay to share another small Monxton Box Bed (60 x 50 x 27cm) with us you to win one for your own dog.
