Hypnotiq is a rapper who was given the Artist of the Decade title with over 150 billion streams and downloads. He is also the first artist to have over 1 billion streams in one week.
Hypnotiq has done songs with Lil Wayne, Eminem, The Outlawz, Ace Hood, Lil Scrappy, and Drake. He has a big following on social media and he also has an online radio show which he does every Thursday at 8 pm, the Hypnotiq Show.
Hypnotiq caught up with K9 Magazine to talk about his dog, work, and life.
Tell us all about all the dogs you've loved in your life. (this is your chance to tell us everything about your dogs, past or present. Names, ages, breeds - we want to know everything!)
I had 2 Pomeranian brothers, Snow Ball and MJ. Snow Ball passed away last year at the age of 13. He had a heart murmur. All his life he was fine until this past August when he ended up getting kidney disease. I took him to the doctor but he passed away there.
MJ is 14 years old now. His birthday is on October 13th and he’s my son.
You're obviously a huge dog lover. How long have dogs been a major part of your life and how would you explain the importance of dogs to someone who hadn't ever experienced the joy of a canine/human relationship in their life?
14 years of love and companionship and they make you their world. If you don’t have a dog, you really need to have one as it’ll change your world.
What are your favorite things to do with your dog(s)?
Going to the mall and walking around is my favorite to do. Giving him treats is my 2nd favorite thing to do. We both enjoy them both so much.
You have a really interesting career... What advice would you give to the many people who wanted to follow your path in career terms? What are the absolute best (and worst) things about your work?
Hard work pays off and make sure to network and invest in yourself. The best thing about my work is that my music inspires a lot of people and the worst part of my work is the hard work that you need to do.

Which do you prefer and why?
Big dogs or little dogs?
I always have little dogs because they’re all I’ve had for 14 years and I love Pomeranians. My baby MJ is small and his brother was small too.
Calm, relaxed dogs or dogs who live at 100mph?
I prefer calm relaxed dogs because that’s what MJ is and I love his personality. Also, I’m calm and relaxed so we click more that way.
Dogs who do as they're asked most of the time or dogs who do pretty much whatever they like whenever they like?
Dogs who do as they're asked most of the time. I prefer this cause it goes to show all the training I’ve done with them and listens more.
Dogs who love to walk by your side or dogs who like to race off and cover ten thousand yards in 3 seconds?
I prefer to have him walking by my side. It goes with the training I’ve done with him. He listens well and he’s right there next to me.
Days off or days at work?
Days at work because hard pays off. The more you work, the more you can do financially and you feel better as well.
The fastest route or the scenic route?
I prefer the fastest route because it’s important for me to get there quickly so I can get a lot more done in a day.
Nighttime or early morning?
I love the nighttime way more. I feel like I get a lot more done at that time with no interruptions.
Describe the last time you laughed out loud because of something you saw a dog do.
When a Labrador goes viral for eating the food so fast and the Husky gets scared away.
What do you like to do in your downtime?
I like to write books about things I’ve done in my life that I can share with people. Also, MJ and I go to church for Sunday service and volunteer with coffee as well.
Let us in on a secret that very few people know about you.
I used to play semi-pro football. I was a wide receiver and kick returner. I played for 2 years on 2 different teams. One was the Country Club Stallions team, the Windy City Buccaneers.
