Go Walkies This Summer

By on April 5, 2012

Hi!

Welcome to the April edition of your very own K9 Insider eNewsletter, brought to you by the K9Magazine.com team courtesy of Go Walkies, proudly sponsored by Eukanuba.

We all know that walking the dog is good for all involved, plenty of exercise in the fresh air whilst spending quality time with your four-legged friend. But now this part of your daily routine could become a fun and easy way to also help raise money for Guide Dogs.

Go Walkies for Guide Dogs is a series of sponsored walks where the dogs are the stars.

In fact it’s the only event of its kind where your dog gets sponsored to take part! As a special thank you for helping their guide dog companions each doggy participant receives a free Eukanuba goody bag, and a Go Walkies dog tag to wear proudly on their collar.

The great news is, it couldn’t be easier to organise a Go Walkies event.

Simply follow these steps and off you go....

Choose a venue and set a date

Your event could take place wherever you like. Whether it’s around your local park where you enjoy your daily stroll, or through the grounds of a stately home!

Tell us about it

To register your event simply visit the Go Walkies website www.gowalkies.org.uk or call us on 0845 600 6787. The Go Walkies team are on hand to help you every step of the way and will make sure you have all the support you need.

Promote your event

The size of your event is entirely up to you. No event is too big or too small, if you wanted to just invite family and friends then that’s absolutely fine. Perhaps you already meet up with a group for regular walks, why not make one of these a Go Walkies for Guide Dogs? If you’ve got bigger plans, you can open your event up to the general public and we will advertise it for you on the Go Walkies website and mobile app. We can also supply materials for you to promote your event in your local area.

Enjoy your walk!

A leisurely walk is something many of us take for granted. However, for a blind or partially-sighted person, it can be a huge challenge. By simply going for a walk in the park you can help more blind and partially sighted people get out and about on their own terms.

As Guide Dogs receives no government funding every penny raised is vital in helping us achieve our aim, to increase the number of guide dog partnerships by a third by 2020. Why not turn something you do everyday into a chance to change someone’s life?

Go Walkies supporter Kim Jamison, who runs a local dog walking group with friends says “Go Walkies is a great way to socialise and meet like minded people whilst fundraising for a great cause, and of course the dogs have a whale of a time too!"

So what are you waiting for? Register your event today at www.gowalkies.org.uk or call 0845 600 6787.

Make sure you keep up to date with all the latest Go Walkies news and events by joining our Facebook page www.facebook.com/gowalkies

If you can’t make it to a Go Walkies event you can still show your support by sponsoring our official Go Walkies mascot, guide dog puppy Nuba!
