Chad Rogers is an American realtor and television presenter who appeared on seasons 2 and 3 of 'Million Dollar Listing' where he featured with Hilton & Hyland real estate brokerage. Chad is regularly featured across both business and lifestyle magazines where he pulls on his expertise at finding the best homes for his power-player clientele, including professional athletes, celebrities and high-ranking business officials. Chad talks to K9 Magazine about his love of life and how Starla brings something to his life not found elsewhere and how she led him to appear in the 2011 Celebrity Catwalk calendar.
Tell us about your dog, Starla - we'd like to know everything about her!
Starla loves the life of selling multi-million dollar properties with me – she’s in training to be a top real estate agent. She attracts many new clients and meets people all the time because she is sooo adorable. Nobody can tell Starla that she is too small to run with the big dogs.
Starla was the runt of her litter born on 7/9/07. She’s a long haired Chihuahua and looks like she’s wearing a tux with white shoes. She doesn’t bark and loves everyone!!! Starla is always the life of the party no matter where she goes. After a long day of work Starla especially loves it when I spoil her rotten. I just can’t resist!
When did your interest in pets/animals begin and how long have you been a pet owner?
I have always had a connection with my four legged friends. I was raised with many different pets; my parents had two dogs, and three birds. I have grown to respect and love all animals because of my pet friendly childhood. Starla entered my life about four years ago when I, on a whim, decided that I was ready to share my life with man’s best friend.
Our readers will know you from role on 'Million Dollar Listing'. More recently we've seen you take an active role as an animal welfare advocate and are set to be featured in the 2011 ‘Celebrity Catwalk’ Celebrities Calendar. Have you always had an interest and a goal where one day you hoped to have the lifestyle and time to help raise awareness to animal concerns close to your heart?
Raising Starla has opened my eyes to the many animal organizations and foundations around the world such as the Four-Legged Friends Foundation and Celebrity Catwalk, which are doing great work representing those without a voice. It was not until Starla and I gained international television exposure that I recognized our voices could join those making a difference.
Do you have a motto that you live your life by? What would you say Starla's motto might be?
My motto is the golden rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. Starla’s motto echoes the words of Mother Teresa: “We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love.”
If you were to swap roles with Starla for a day, how do you think she'd cope being you and what would you most love about being her?
Starla would not have a problem spending a day in my shoes. Starla is my protégé and is in training to be a world recognized real estate expert. On the other hand, I’m pretty sure I could handle a day in the life of Starla. Gaining her hundreds of clients would be my goal, and the constant attention wouldn’t be so bad either. Life would be well lived if she would spoil me with food, toys, and beautiful women which approach her on a daily basis.
For this question, we ask our celebs to match up the following people’s personality to a breed of dog, for example, Winston Churchill = Bulldog or J.Lo = Afghan Hound, Frank Bruno = Boxer etc. If the following celebrities and dog lovers were breeds of dogs, based on their personalities alone, what type of breed do you think they'd be...
Gretchen Rossi (Real Housewives of OC) – Pomeranian
Hugh Hefner – Wire Terrier
Jodi Lyn O'Keefe – Siberian Husky
Perez Hilton – Golden-doodle like his dog, Teddy Hilton.
Which do you prefer and why?
Big dogs or little dogs – I’ve always been a fan of big dogs, however Starla was unexpected and so was her size. Currently at four years old Starla weighs a little less than 2 pounds, and I’m constantly asked if she is a puppy, we both look much younger than we are.
Pedigree dogs or x breeds – I love all dogs equally.
Days off or days at work – Starla and I never take a day off. Real estate is a 24/7 business for both of us, and Starla earns her kibble fair and square. This is a cutthroat business, if you snooze you lose. Starla and I are winning because of our work ethic.
Describe the last time you laughed out loud because of something you saw Starla or another dog do.
While visiting a friend Starla met another dog, Penny, for the first time. It was love at first sight, as they could not stop French-kissing one another from the moment they met. I should have changed Starla’s name to “S-Love”. It was absolutely hilarious.
If you had the choice to arrange a dinner party taking three people (choosing from any era, past or present), who would you choose?
Donald Trump, Justin Bieber and Ellen DeGeneres.
What is your current favourite…?
TV show – The Celebrity Apprentice
Book – “Peaceful Warrior” by Dan Millman
Film – Wall Street (1st Production)
If you could sum it up, what do you think is the best thing about being a dog owner?
No matter how my day has been, when I come home I can’t wait to see Starla. The stresses of the day fade away when we are together.
Finish the following sentence, my dog is… a BITCH: B-eautiful I-ntelligent T-alented C-aring H-ilarious
And finally, this is always a tough question and often requires a fair degree of thinking time but….If Starla had the ability to speak and answer one question and one question only, what would you ask her and what do you think that she would say?
Many Thanks Chad!
